South Korean man arrested after returning to Thailand to retrieve son’s body

A South Korean man has been arrested in Bangkok on murder charge after he returned to the kingdom to retrieve his son’s body, police said.

Moon Wang Sik was arrested at the Suvarnabhumi Airport at 11:30pm Thursday on his arrival.
Pol Lt Supakorn Sangklub of Lumpini police station said Moon was wanted on arrest warrant issued by the Phra Khanong Court on April 9 2009 on charge of murdering his compatriot that year.
Moon claimed he had already served his term in South Korea for the murder but Thai police said they would crosscheck with the South Korean authorities first.
Moon was released on bail after posting Bt500,000 in cash as a guarantee.
Moon returned to Thailand after fleeing because he wanted to retrieve the body of his son, who jumped from his room on the 19th floor of SV City condominium on Rama III Road on Wednesday.
Moon’s son has been staying at the condominium with his mother for over five years but the mother returned to South Korea on October 15.
