Clashes continue in Muse and Kyukot

An exchange of fire between government forces and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), the Taung National Liberation Army (TNLA), the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and the Arakan Army (AA) occurred in the early hours of Sunday in Kyukot (Pansaing) and at the 105-mile Trade Zone in Muse, according TNLA spokesman, Col. Tar Phone Kyaw Ah.

"Our TNLA group and KIA group attacked the government forces at the 105th mile. MNDAA and AA exchanged fire with the military in Mongkoe Region,. In Kyukot (Pangsaing), only KIA attacked the military. Our four allies from northern parts also attacked the military,” said Col. Tar Phone Kyaw Ah when the Daily Eleven contacted him via phone.

He added that the exchange of fire started in the morning on November 20.

“It happened because the military recently carried out a number of attacks in our areas, such as Kachin and Kokant. They attacked us using heavy weapons and killed villagers. The fire exchange has intensified in the ethnic areas, and to prevent this we had to carry out these attacks with our allies.”

Col. Tar Phone Kyaw Ah added that fighting has ended in the 105-mile Trade Zone, but clashes continue in other areas such as Mongkoe, Kyukot(Pangsaing), eastern Kutkhai, and eastern Muse.
