1,400 police to keep security at Sanam Luang, Central World New Year countdown

The Metropolitan Police Bureau will deploy 1,400 policemen to keep security at two New Year countdown praying sites of Sanam Luang and Central World, a senior police officer said Wednesday.

Pol Maj Gen Jiraphat Phumichit, acting deputy chief of the bureau, said police would close traffic around the two sites as a lot of people are expected to join the praying rites.
The traffic around Sanam Luang will be closed at 8:30 pm on New Year Eve while the roads around Central World will be closed at noon on December 30, Jiraphat said.
