Bangkok Council seeks Bt2.3 bn budget to solve traffic problems

The Bangkok Council on Tuesday requested a Bt2.3 billion budget from the government for the construction of nine projects to help resolve the capital’s notorious traffic problems.

Pol Maj Gen Prasopchok Prommool, a member of the council and chairman of the panel tasked with considering the ways to resolve the traffic problems, proposed the projects that could be carried out immediately providing that the government approves financial support.
The nine projects included the construction of bridge across Chao Phrya river near Kiak Kai intersection and a tunnel underneath Ratchada and Ratchaphruek roads.
“Bangkok is the capital of the country so it’s an urgent issue to address. Therefore, the Bangkok Council proposes the projects to receive funding from government,” said Prosopchok.
