The man was later identified as Somwang Thongtan, a resident of Ban Mai Pattana village in Tambon Sriwilai of Sriwilai district.
The dogs – one female and two male – apparently bit and yanked his clothes off. The badly destroyed clothes were found several metres away from the naked body.
One of the dogs had a long cut on its right cheek. A knife was found near the body.
Police said the body was found lying on his back in the field and there was sign of struggling and fighting around him. The body was full with wounds apparently inflicted by animals’ bites.
Later the day, the owner of the dogs, Praphai Photiraj, 72, met police and paid Somwang’s family Bt30,000 for funeral service. Police will take legal actions against her.
Somwang’s neighbors said the man went to the field Saturday evening to catch wild rodents. They said they heard the dogs barking very loud at that time.
