Centara says not directly involved in Pattaya condo project after protest

Central Plaza Hotel (Centara) has issued a statement distancing itself from a consumer protest over a condominium project in Pattaya, claiming that although the project bears the name “Centara” under a licensing agreement, Centara “has absolutely nothing to do with the management of the project, either as shareholder or director”.

According to media and online reports, about a hundred buyers of condos in the Centara Grand Residence Pattaya project staged a protest, charging that construction had stopped and demanding their money back.
Centara said in its statement that besides licensing the use of its name, it had only agreed with the actual developer to have a subsidiary manage the condominium project once it is completed.
It said that all advertising and sales materials clearly state: “Centara Grand Residence, Pattaya is being developed and sold by the developer, Tulip Group (Bazis Development Co, Ltd) and not by Central Plaza Hotel Plc or its affiliates (Centara).
“Centara has not confirmed the accuracy of any of the statements of representations made herein, and Centara is not part of or an agent for the developer and has not acted as broker in connection with the sale of Centara Grand Residence, Pattaya. Neither Central Plaza Hotel Plc nor its affiliates, employees or representatives make any warranties or representations in respect of the project.”
The statement added that neither Central Plaza Hotel nor any of its affiliates is party to the condo sales contracts between buyers and the developer, Bazis Development Co.
