Drug suspect escapes custody in Sa Kaew

A drug suspect escaped custody while being escorted to the Sa Kaew provincial court on Monday morning, Sa Kaew police commander Pol Maj-General Yingyos Thepjamnong has said.
The incident was initially reported as an abduction but the details were not clear as of press time.
The escape, which took place with the help of an accomplice, took place at about 9am while suspect Cherngchai Chumcheun, 26, who was facing charges of possessing narcotics with the intent to sell and the illegal possession of a gun, was brought by officials to the court.
As Cherngchai and his accomplice in a white Toyota sedan with no licence plate heading towards the Nam Sap intersection, police were setting up checkpoints as of press time.
