Mekong water pipe system will help tackle drought in Nong Khai province

A five-kilometre-long water pipe system, incorporating a pump station, is being built by the Royal Irrigation Department at a cost of Bt33 million to carry water from the Mekong River in Nong Khai province and tackle drought in the long term.

The project in Tambon Si Kai Tai will help supply water from the Mekong to farmers in three villages covering 2,000 rai of agricultural land.
Work on the pipe system started last October and is scheduled for completion in September, after which the Tambon Si Kai Administrative Organisation will take over its management and maintenance.
