'1,500,000 Steps' charity run raises Bt125 million

The Chiang Mai to Siriraj "1,500,000 Steps" charity run has exceeded its target - raising more than Bt125 million in donations. When launched, the campaign aimed to raise Bt99.99million for the construction of the 84th Anniversary Navamindrabopitr Building.

The run concludes Friday afternoon at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok with remarkable results. Privy Council President General Prem Tinsulanonda presided over the run’s closing ceremony.
The charity run – led by 20 Siriraj medical students who have been joined by high profile people and other members of the public on a rotation basis – covers 750 kilometres across 11 provinces.
It started on March 11 at McCormick Hospital in Chiang Mai's Muang district.
The 84th Anniversary Navamindrabopitr Building was the last name granted by the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and will be used to care for underprivileged patients.
