Lanes to be closed as repair work on Thai-Belgian bridge begins

Some lanes of the Thai-Belgian bridge near Lumpini Park in Bangkok will be closed for major repairs from Monday to May 15 following a blaze in garbage bins underneath the structure last month.

The inbound side of the bridge will be closed first, from Monday to April 18, while the outbound side will undergo repair between April 18 and May 15.
From March 20 to April 18, the inbound side of the bridge will only facilitate inbound traffic during the morning rush hours between 6am and 9am. It will only carry outbound traffic between 3pm and 8pm.
“During other hours of the day, we will dedicate one lane on the bridge for inbound traffic and the other for outbound,” Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) deputy permanent secretary Jaroon Meethanataworn said on Friday.
