Mae Pim Beach sand sculpture festival launched

The Klaeng district administration and a tambon municipality in Rayong have launched the Sand Sculpture@Mae Pim Beach festival to draw tourists to the east-coast tourist destination.

The event was launched by Klaeng district chief Withaya Chaphanon and Kachen Jaemsai, mayor of Tambon Sunthornphu Municipality.
Highlights are five large sand sculptures that display symbols of Rayong, including a sea turtle, a literature mermaid, and fruits.
There is also a 7x10-metre sand sculpture that depicts His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and his favourite dog Tongdaeng, made by the Chanatip Team. The sculpture drew many tourists who took selfies with it.
There is also music on the beach at night.
Kachen said seafood restaurants on the beach also offered discounts during the festival that lasts until Sunday.
