Egat working to restore power supply in Pattani

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) is rushing to restore power supply in Pattani after attacks by suspected insurgents caused a partial blackout in the southern province after midnight on Friday.

Egat deputy governor Suthon Boonprasong said initial checks found that high-voltage power cables in certain areas were cut off apparently because of the attacks.
Egat will cooperate with security officials to restore the power cables.
He said power plants in southern provinces are still operational and Egat has stepped up security at its power plants throughout the day.
