A revered statue of the Buddha, Phra Buddha Sihing, was on Wednesday carried in procession from the National Museum in Bangkok to a temporary shrine at City Hall’s Khon Muang Plaza for the Songkran festival.

With Bangkok Governor Pol General Aswin Kwanmuang presiding, the famous Buddha image was carried through the streets of the old city to the plaza, where celebrants can pay homage, many in the hope of earning good fortune. It will be taken back to the museum on Saturday (April 15).
The municipality will tomorrow morning host a ceremony at the plaza where people can offer alms to 191 monks.
