His Majesty the King will preside over the merit-making ceremony to mark Visakha Bucha Day at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha on May 10, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said on Tuesday.

He said the public could take part in the ceremony to receive His Majesty.
The merit-making ceremony is being organised by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the prime minister said, adding that simultaneous ceremonies will be held at temples nationwide.
During the weekly Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the prime minister told ministers to attend the ceremony to receive His Majesty.
The day marks the birth, the enlightenment and the nirvana attainment of Lord Buddha.
