Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha will preside over the Cabinet meeting in which Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam was expected to propose the nurse recruitment drive following his discussion with the Ministry of Public Health and the Office of the Civil Service Commission.
It is expected the move would lead to the recruitment of 3,000 nurses this year.
The proposal followed ongoing protests by nurses, who claim they work in an industry that is under-staffed and has tough working conditions and unfair salaries.
Hundreds of nurses in Nan province demonstrated on Monday.
