An irrigation canal burst its banks on Friday in heavy rain, inundating a village in Sukhothai’s Si Samrong district.

Residents of Moo 2 village in Tambon Ban Rai said the canal overflowed at 11am with the water level rising quickly to almost one metre high, prompting around 100 families to move their valuables upstairs.
The canal flows from Mae Mok reservoir in Lampang through Sawankhalok district to Si Samrong.
