Elderly man blocks wrong convoy - thought it was for PM

An elderly man threw himself in front of a vehicle convoy for Pol General Adul Saengsingkaew, the Social Development and Human Security minister, at the Government House gate on Tuesday morning, after he thought it was a convoy for Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha.

The man, whose name has not been revealed, was then brought to complaints center opposite Government House.
The approximately 70-year-old man wore a band that read “The NCPO help me” and brought bags of toddy palm cake, which he intended to give Prayut and fellow National Council for Peace and Order members.
Speaking with a northeastern dialect, the man said that he wanted to ask the NCPO for help with his will.
Security measures at Government House on Tuesday were elevated following the bombing at Phramongkutklao Hospital on Monday.
Police sniffer dogs were brought in to inspect around the House’s compound and at a grass field in front of the Thai Khu Fah building.
Military forces and Police Special Brand Bureau officers guarded gates around the House.
