Taxi driver seriously injured after steel beam pierces his windscreen

A taxi driver was severely injured when he crashed in a barrier blocking access to Krung Thep Bridge as it was being raised and a metal beam pierced the car’s windshield.
The accident happened at about 9 am when the bridge was raised to allow a large ship pass through it.
The taxi driver apparently accelerated to try to cross the bridge before it was raised.
The driver was taken to Charoen Krung hospital.
