An informed source said on Sunday that Anant, who resigned from his top post at the Land and Houses Plc in the wake of the scandal, had now decided to acknowledge the charges at 9am on Monday. “It’s sooner that the initial schedule,” the source said.
DSI chief Pol Colonel Paisit Wongmuang initially announced that Anant would be summoned to acknowledge the charges on Wednesday.
According to Paisit, Anant now plans to assign a lawyer to speak to media.
A DSI source said that because Anant had cooperated with authorities, he would not be detained during the investigation.
“After acknowledging the charges against him, he will have 30 days to submit evidence in his defence. If his evidence is not convincing, he will be forwarded for prosecution,” the source added.
The DSI suspects that some KCUC funds had been illegally diverted to buy a land plot, which allowed Anant to reap a lump sum of the profits.
