A couple who were carrying their three-year-old son were arrested Friday morning while allegedly trying to steal a battery from a tuktuk motor-tricycle.
The couple were captured by local residents on Polpichai road at Yanyong weekly market in Songkhla’s Hat Yai district.
The woman was identified as Wanwisa Rungfa, 29. She was spotted trying to remove the battery while her husband waited on a motorcycle with their son.
The husband tried to flee when the woman was arrested but his motorcycle hit a car and he fell.
The woman insisted that she committed the crime alone and asked police to let her husband go because there was no-one else to take care of their children.
Police interrogated the couple at the Hat Yai police station.
