Police reveal huge drug haul after 22 arrested in six cases

The Narcotics Suppression Bureau has arrested 22 suspects and seized 2 million methamphetamine pills and 56 kilograms of crystal meth or “ice” in six cases, the NSB announced on Monday.

The arrests were announced in a press conference jointly held by deputy police commissioner general Pol General Chalermkiart Sriworakhan and NSB commissioner Pol Lt-General Sommai Kongwisaisuk.
Sommai said a major case was the arrest of Suchet Suwanwong and Thaweesask Pijitbanjong. Sommai said police initially found ony 485 grams of “ice”, 203 meth pills and 4.6g of meth powder at a condominium in Suan Luang district. But the accused duo admitted to police that they had moved their drugs to another condominium in Ratanatibet area before their arrest.
Police said the two were part of a major gang that smuggled the drug from the North to sell in Bangkok. When police searched the condominium in Ratanatibet, other gang members had moved away the drug, Sommai added.
In another case, police arrested Tawan Lateh and Akkhanan Uma for allegedly attempting to smuggle 658,000 meth pills from Bangkok to the deep South, Sommai said.
