The municipality has sought help from other local government agencies to install water pumps and prepare all necessary tools in case the bloated Yom River breaks its banks.
The province made preparations to cope with possible flooding after heavy rains in Nan for several days caused the Yom River to swell and the rain waters were expected to reach Sukhothai later on Friday.
Sukhothai Governor Piti Kaewsalubsi has instructed all agencies to be on standby on a 24-hour basis to help local residents, especially those living on the Yom River bank, in the event of any flooding.
