The event honoured the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej for his leadership in promoting the Thai language.
The activities at the Thai-Japanese Stadium in Bangkok yesterday included poem contests and quizzes. The event was a joint effort of the BMA’s Tourism Division, Culture, Sports and Tourism Department, the Association of Young Poets and Artists.
Another event, which was held at the capital’s central library, showcased the linguistic achievements of 10 high schools under the supervision of the BMA. Both events were aimed at instilling a love of the national language, and encouraging people to use the Thai language correctly, the NNT reported.
