Heavy rain, possible flash flooding forecast for six southern provinces

The Meteorological Office has warned residents of six southern provinces to expect heavy rain and possible flash floods from Tuesday to Saturday.

The office said a southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea will unleash heavy rain in Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun that could lead to run-offs and flash flooding.
It said the monsoon will also cause swells of up to three metres high in the Andaman Sea.
Phang Nga governor Phakkhapong Thawipat told residents of the six provinces to be on alert for flash flooding and mudslides, especially those living near mountains and in low-lying areas.
