Soldiers shut down ‘noisy’ Chiang Mai gambling den
A 30-strong Army team raided a gambling den in Chiang Mai's Doi Saket district on Monday afternoon and arrested 20 punters and the den operator.
The operation was in response to complaints.
Wichan Boonreung, 51, was arrested and admitted to operating the gambling den from his house, where cards and gambling chips were found.
It was reported that up to Bt1 million a day was gambled there.
Many nearby residents, fed up with noise generated by the operation day and night, watched the raid take place and thanked soldiers.
