As part of their mandate to develop the trade and digital skills of Thai entrepreneurs, the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) is organizing “Symposium 2017” international forum. International logistics experts will share insight about adopting innovations, including digital technology. As well, organisers hope that participant networking would lead to emergence of a trade network within the ASEAN+6 market.
Vannaporn Ketudat, deputy director-general of DITP said that international trade today is constantly facing rapid change due to the world having already entered the digital age. The new international trade context with its linked transportation, cross-border trade, labour requirements, digital technology and e-commerce add to the need for strategic decision-making. Vannaporn said every Thai business needs to understand and adjust its operational strategy to be in line with the current economic transition.
DITP has a key role in supporting the Thai trade sector to enhance business competitiveness in global markets. That led them to focus Symposium 2017 on the topic of “A Roadmap to Sustainable Growth in Digital Connectivity Era” at Tilog-Logistix 2017, now underway.
Keynote speakers include
Zhao Huxiang, president of The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) and vice president of China Merchants Group, who will be giving a keynote speech on “Multi-Modal Transport Infrastructure and Investment”. He is expected to unveil logistics and trade opportunities on the China’s proposed “silk road” network for Thai businesses with strategies to link up trade across Asia and continents around the world.
Kettivit Sittisoontornwong, president of Thai International Freight Forwarders Association (TIFFA) and CEO of Leo Global Logistics Group, who won the Excellent Logistics Management Award (ELMA) in 2016 in the category of 3rd Party Logistics Services Provider (3PL). He will speak about “Human Resource Development” from the perspective of enterprise management in the digital economy.
