The arrest brought the number of suspects in custody under the emergency decree for interrogation over alleged links to the hostage-taking and robbery of multiple pickup trucks in Songkhla’s Na Thawi district last week to four persons.
The four were not among the suspects for whom police had secured arrest warrants nor were authorities in the process of applying for additional warrants.
The suspected insurgent, Maroyee Radaeng, 30, a native of Songkha’s Thepha district, was apprehended during a combined security search of his wife’s home in Pattani’s Yarang district.
Officers collected his DNA samples and fingerprints at the Yarang Police Station for further investigation before sending Maroyee to the Special Taskforce Ranger 43’s interrogation centre.
