Police probing Bangkok man’s river ‘suicide’

A 42-year-old Bangkok man, distraught after a quarrel with his mother, appears to have committed suicide in Samut Songkhram, tying to a steel weight to his legs and jumping into the Mae Klong River.

Police have not ruled out foul play, however, and are investigating further.
The body of Theerayuth Song-ngerndee was found on Sunday afternoon in the river near the community of Wat Yai.
Police determined that the Bang Khun Thien resident – who worked at a company manufacturing the kind of steel weight found tied to his feet – had quarrelled with his mother over a “personal matter”.
He drove to Wat Pom Kaew in Mueang Samut Songkhram on Friday night. His girlfriend lives in the neighbourhood and he texted her to come and meet him.
The woman came, but couldn’t find Theerayuth.
