Thai killed, migrant workers injured in Chai Nat collision

A motorist drowned in his car early on Thursday after it was knocked into a water-filled ditch in a collision with a van carrying migrant workers.

The parked Honda was struck by a chartered van transporting 14 Myanmar people along the Asia Highway in Moo 13 village, Muang Chai Nat, at 3am.
Phuchit Parnprom, 32, drowned in his car. Two of the migrant workers were injured and taken to hospital.
Witness Sunita Ngon-ngam, 20, told police she had parked her motorcycle at the roadside to talk to Phuchit when the van crashed into both the car and bike.
Van driver Chumporn Phuwichai, 40, said he was heading to Bangkok from Mae Sot in Tak when another vehicle cut in front of him, forcing him to swerve.
