Phitsanulok girl gets new home after writing to PM

The Government Housing Bank revealed on Wednesday that it has built a new house for a poor girl who recently wrote to the prime minister telling him that her house was on the brink of falling down.

The GHB’s Phitsanulok branch built the house for Siriporn Suthinpueak, a fifth grader of Wat Mahawanaram School in Tambon Hua Ror in Phitsanulok’s Muang district following a request from the provincial governor.
The Phitsanulok GHB managerNiramol Kerdchairit and Muang Phitsanulok district chief Itthipol Bupphasiri held a ceremony to hand over the house to the girl and her family.
The girl wrote a letter, addressed to the prime minister, recounting that her house, which is occupied by five family members, had almost collapsed due to decaying floors, tilting poles and a leaky roof.
The Phitsanulok governor spotted the letter at the complaints receiving centre and sought help from the GHB, which in turn sent officials to inspect the house.
Niramol said the GHB approved a budget of Bt250,000 to build a new house and to buy some furniture.
During the same ceremony, Colonel Kong-ek Khayankit, deputy commander of the 39th Army Circle, granted a scholarship from his agency to the poor girl.
