Two suspects killed, three police injured in stolen pickup chase

A man and his wife were killed and three policemen were injured after a 20-kilometre chase in Uthai Thani ended in a crash on Monday.

Police said they were chasing a pickup truck at 10.30pm when it lost control and crashed into a roadside power pole on Nong Chang-Lan Sak road in Ban Din Daeng village in Tambon Thun Na Ngam in Uthai Thani's Lan Sak district.
The police car involved in the pursuit swerved to avoid the collision and hit a roadside tree, injuring the three policemen inside.
The two suspects who died were identified as Pongsak Roikaew, 48, and his wife, Supaporn Thongsri, 37.
The impact hurled Pongsak's body through the windshield.
The three policemen were identified as Pol Capt Surapoj Kruathanakul, who was severely injured, Pol Senior Sgt Maj Damrong Butsing and Pol Cpl Phudit Phattarakhunanon.
The three officers pursued the pickup from Khao Bang Kraek district after they were informed that it had been stolen.
Police also found 15 methamphetamine pills in the pickup.
