Klong Hat temporary checkpoint becomes permanent
The Cabinet on Tuesday approved the upgrading of a temporary checkpoint in Sa Kaew's Khlong Hat district to a permanent one, making it the second permanent checkpoint in the province.
The Cabinet resolved that the Interior Ministry will be in charge of issuing any necessary regulations for the upgrade of the checkpoint, which connects to Cambodia at Ban Khao Din village.
If any construction is needed, the Interior Ministry must coordinate with the Royal Thai Army’s Survey Department and the Foreign Ministry’s Treaties and Legal Affairs Department to avoid conflicts with Cambodia.
The statistics at the Ban Khao Din temporary checkpoint last year showed that 1,156 Thais travelled to Cambodia while 1.056 million Cambodians crossed the border into Thailand. The value of importst at the checkpoint last year was Bt3.587 billion, with exports at Bt2.984 billion.
The first Thai-Cambodian checkpoint in Sa Kaew is in Aranyaprathet district.
There are five other permanent Thai-Cambodian checkpoints - two in Chanthaburi and one each in Si Sa Ket, Surin and Trat.
