Chiang Mai man sought in wife’s murder

Chiang Mai police were on Thursday hunting for a man said to be in the final stages of cancer after he allegedly stabbed his wife to death.

The body of Rattiporn Maneeporn, 26, was found in bed in her rented room in San Kampaen district on Thursday morning.
Her mother, Nualchawee Khamsaen, told police her son-in-law, Pracha Mulnee, 46, had phoned her, telling her to go and collect her daughter’s body.
Nualchawee said Pracha told her he’d killed Rattiporn and was going to surrender to police.
She said her daughter had taken a job as a waitress in a bar after Pracha was diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer and could no longer work.
Nualchawee went to their rented house, but Pracha had already left in his pickup truck.
Police found a knife, the suspected murder weapon, and Rattiporn’s mobile phone submerged in a container of water.
Police speculate that Pracha discovered chat messages between his wife and another man on the phone and killed her in a rage.
