Traffic routes for 2018 Countdown in Phuket Old Town

Phuket traffic police have announced road closures and other changes around the Phuket Old Town area for the 2018 countdown event on December 30–31, from 4pm to midnight.

People considering going through Phuket Town on Saturday or Sunday night, or plan to welcome in the New Year in Phuket Town, are strongly urged to study the closures and alternate routes and to plan ahead. The changes include:
 At Thepkasattri / Tungka intersection, buses and lorries will not be allowed. The alternative route is Damrong Road.
 At Thepkasattri / Dibuk intersection, the road will be closed, with no vehicle traffic allowed to pass to Phuket old town area via this route. The alternative way to go to Phuket old town is Dibuk Road, which will be opened as a one-way road.
 At Montri / Dibuk intersection, no vehicle will be allowed to get to Dibuk Road on this route. There will instead be a one-way lane from Thepkasattri Road to Montri Road.
 At Phang Nga / Tilok Utit 2 intersection, the road heading to Montri / Phang Nga intersection will be closed (except for people who drive to the Royal Phuket City Hotel). There will instead be a one-way road from Montri / Phang Nga intersection to Tilok Utit 2 intersection. The route towards Phuket / Phang Nga intersection might be temporarily closed as well.
 At the Clock Tower Circle, the route towards Montri Road will be closed.
 At Yaowarat / Phang Nga intersection, the route towards Phang Nga Road will be closed.
 At Rassada / Takuapa intersection, the roads will be closed. No vehicles from Rassada Road will be allowed to turn right on to Takuapa Road.
