Man killed while racing on Bangkok street: police

A man was killed when his car crashed into a roadside tree on a Bangkok street while he was racing against a pickup truck late Wednesday night, police said on Thursday.

Pol Captain Thanachai Phanwilai, deputy inspector of Khokkram Police Station, was alerted of the accident on the outbound Prasert Manoonkit Road in Lat Phrao district at 11pm.
A Honda Civic car had hit a tree about 100 metres before the road reached the Sukhonthasawat Intersection.
The impact demolished the vehicle, killing the driver and trapping the body in the wreckage.
The man was later identified as Thaweesak Prempong, 41.
Witnesses told police they had seen the car racing against a Toyota Vigo pickup but they could not remember its licence plate.
