Man killed by bus in Nong Khai remains unidentified

Pol Captain Chaikiat Daeng-urai said the accident took place about 6am on the Udon Thani-Nong Khai highway in front of a gas station in Tambon Nong Komkoh.

The victim, a Thai man in his 40s carrying no identification papers, had suffered a fatal head injury.
The body was taken to the Nong Khai Hospital morgue.
Bus driver Winij Waisaen, 44, was waiting in his vehicle, which sustained a shattered windshield.
He told police he was taking his passengers from Bangkok to Muang Nong Khai and the man had suddenly appeared crossing the road in a dimly lit locale.
He tried to turn sharply to avoid hitting him, but could not avert the tragedy.
