Two perish in Bangkok house fire

An elderly woman and a man were killed when a fire burned down their two-storey wooden house in Bangkok’s Vadhana district early on Friday.
Thonglor Police Station was alerted to the fire on Sukhumvit Soi 61 in North Klongton sub-district at 4.50am.
Four fire engines rushed to the scene and took less than an hour to control the blaze after it swept through and brought down the house.
The charred bodies of Yukim Saetae, 91, and Thongchai Lekcharoensuk, 61, were retrieved from the destroyed house. The fire also damaged two vehicles.
Another resident, Suphannee Lekcharoensuk, 60, escaped by jumping from the second floor. She was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Police suspect the fire was caused by a short circuit.
