The delayed Phattanakarn-Ramkhamhaeng-Thavornthawat tunnel will be completed in October this year, a deputy governor of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) said.

Chakkaphan Phiewngam gave the promise after he visited the construction site on Tuesday to inspect progress.
He said the project, which started on April 21, 2016, was initially scheduled to be complete on April 10 this year, but was delayed due to “certain obstacles”. Delays were also caused by some public utility agencies. Chakkaphan said the contract had been extended to October 11.
He said he had instructed the contractor to complete construction within the extended timeframe.
He said the 1,250-metre long tunnel would help reduce congestion on the Phattanakarn and Ramkhamhaeng roads. The tunnel will pass under the Phattanakarn-Thavornrthawat Intersection.
