European stock markets stabilised at the start of trading on Tuesday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index down 0.1 percent at 7,022.44 points.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 rose 0.2 percent to 11,637.62 points, while the Paris CAC 40 was flat at 5,094.44 compared with the closing levels on Monday.
