Police arrested Manat Promprung from Phuket yesterday at Manit Jaroenyon secondhand cars. Officers seized two handguns, 80 bullets, four cars and two motorbikes.
The arrest followed complaints from people who said they had been loaned money or pawned cars at the dealership. Manat had allegedly been charging excessive interest rates for the loans.
Manat was taken to Chalong police station and charged with illegally operating a pawn shop, charging excessive interest rates and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. Manat reportedly admitted guilt to all the charges.
