The delivery worker, Kriansak Sornthong, 35, died at the scene after being shot four times in his back, neck, left chest and right arm.
The shop owner, Son Thongboh, 30, alleged that the killer was Pol Senior Sgt-Major Sirimongkol Thongsuk, a traffic policeman of the Thamma Sala police station, who lives just two houses away from the shop.
Son said Srimonthon came to work with him just four days ago. On Monday, he rode a motorcycle to do an errand outside and encountered Sirimongkol. The policeman told the worker that the motorcycle’s exhaust pipe needed to be changed as it emitted too much noise..
Son said while the worker was sweeping the floor in front of the shop, the policeman turned up and asked him why he had not changed the exhaust pipe.
Son said when the worker replied the motorcycle belonged to his friend and he could not change the pipe on his own, the policeman became angry and fired the first shot at him.
Son said the worker fled into the shop and the policeman fired three more shots at him before leaving.
