They are a popular form of public transport around the city but “Guy” Ratchanont Suprakob uploaded an Instagram selfie-video about the alternatives.
He said he was told Grab was best avoided in the region so he asked a red bus driver how much for a 1km ride cost.
The driver reportedly responded Bt600.
“I wasn’t paying that,” said Guy, who decided to walk instead.
The driver claimed it was the "high season” but Guy said Grab would have charged him Bt52 for the journey.
A ticket with VietJet from Phuket to Bangkok can cost around Bt650 and a return Bangkok taxi trio to Suvarnabhumi from Sukhumvit costs less than Bt600.
