Monks in Bangkok on Sunday led hundreds of Thais in worshiping Buddhist relics and statues gathered from 13 Asian countries for a New Year blessing ceremony.

The artefacts arranged at Sanam Luang came from Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Japan, Indonesia, India, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Vietnam, as well as from around Thailand.

Hundreds of Thai monks and more than 60 monks from elsewhere in Asia will lead prayers at Sanam Luang on New Year’s Eve.

The artefacts will remain on view at Sanam Luang until Tuesday and will then be moved to the National Museum until January 15.
