Preparations now complete for Royal Coronation : Bangkok governor

The capital has finalised its preparations to facilitate the huge crowds of people who will participate in the Royal Coronation event this coming weekend, Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang said at a press conference on Monday.

He was speaking after chairing a meeting of an administrative committee on the Royal Coronation, which takes place from Saturday to Monday.
“I consider the preparation to be 100 per cent complete, except for minor things such as lighting and CCTV. They will be completed by the end of Tuesday,” he said.
Due to the hot weather, flowers along the 7-kilometre-long Royal procession route have started fading, the governor said, adding that the Environment Department has been assigned with replacing them on Wednesday.
Food and water is being prepared for the public during the three-day Royal Coronation period, when large crowds of at least 200,000 people are expected to attend, Aswin said.
The biggest crowds will be on Sunday, when about 700,000-800,000 people are expected to come, therefore more food and water will be prepared for distribution that day, he explained.
For foreigners, English and Chinese translators will be on hand at many spots to enable foreign visitors to understand the ceremony.
The translators are being provided with the cooperation of Kasem Bundit University and Bangkokthorburi University, the governor said.
Entertainment operators will be asked not to sell alcohol or play loud music near the area during the three-day event.
