M-6.2 quake hits off Tohoku
A powerful magnitude-6.2 quake with a focus off Fukushima occurred at around 7:23 p.m. Sunday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
A lower 5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 was felt in the southern and central parts of Miyagi Prefecture and the coastal area of Fukushima Prefecture.
No tsunami warning has been issued.
