Northern BTS extension undergoing trials

Trial runs are being conducted on the BTS Skytrain extension in north Bangkok from the stations at Phahonyothin 24 and Ha Yaek Lat Phrao intersection to Ratchayothin, Senanikom and Kasetsart University stations.

Krungthep Thanakom posted video on Wednesday (October 16) of one such test of the line that ends at the first Skytrain station close to the university.
It reported that the trials are proceeding according to plan and will continue daily for about a month and a half before the official opening on December 5.
Work on the extension is now 85 per cent complete.
Pedestrians and commuters on Phahonyothin Road are seeing trains running continuously from Ha Yaek Lat Phrao intersection to Kasetsart as operational and signalling systems are tested and speed is gradually added.
Once operational as far as Kasetsart, up to 100,000 people a day are expected to use the line, a threefold jump from the current average of 39,019.
There are several government offices, shopping malls and residential areas along the route.
