Worshippers and others clean a nehanzo, or reclining Buddha, using poles with bamboo leaves during year-end cleaning called “susuharai” at Nanzoin temple in Sasaguri, Fukuoka Prefecture, on Thursday. Built in 1995, the 41-metre-long, 11-metre-high reclining Buddha is said to be one of world’s largest bronze statues. Participants also cleaned the nehanzo with bleached cloth.
