Gold gains Bt100 per baht weight in value in single day
The price of gold, already climbing first thing Wednesday morning (February 26), had increased by Bt100 per baht weight by 5pm, the Gold Traders Association announced.
A gold bar cost Bt24,750 per baht weight to buy and Bt24,850 to sell. Gold ornaments were Bt24,301.48 to buy and Bt25,350 to sell.
The prices increased by approximately Bt100 per baht weight from the morning because investors regard gold as a safe-haven asset amid concerns about the economic damage being caused by the COVID-19 virus.
On Tuesday it cost Bt24,700 to buy gold and Bt24,800 to sell it, while gold ornaments were Bt24,256 to buy and Bt25,300 to sell.
