Bangchak declared safe after its own virus scare
No employee of energy firm Bangchak Corp (BCP) is infected with the Covid-19 virus, the company announced on Wednesday (March 11).
“BCP was informed on March 9 by a partner company engaged in air-quality assessment at its oil refinery that one of their staff who visited the refinery on March 2 had tested positive for Covid-19,” it said in a statement.
“BCP immediately contacted all of its relevant staff and ordered them to undergo a physical examination. We found that no staff member at BCP is infected, and no other employee of the partner company apart from the one person.”
As a precaution, it has deployed measures recommended by the Department of Disease Control.
“BCP has cleaned the facility and surrounding area with disinfectant and will close the cafeteria until March 15 – which is 14 days after March 2.
“All staff members who were in contact with the infected person have been ordered to stay home in self-quarantine for 14 days and follow outbreak-prevention procedures strictly,” BCP said.
The incident will not affect operations in any way, it said.
