Eleven markets under City Hall supervision will suspend rent until further notice, Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang said on Friday (April 3).

To reduce expenses for traders hit by the Covic-19 pandemic, City Hall will stop collecting all rental fees – including for public toilets and parking spaces – at its 10 Bangkok markets with immediate effect until the situation returns to normal.
The rent suspension covers Chatuchak Weekend 2 Market (Minburi), Thonburi Market Sanamluang, Thewaratch Market, Pracha Niwet 1 Market, Nong Chok Market, Bang Kapi Market, Wong Wien Lek Amulet Market, Ratchadaphisek Market, Singha Market and Ratburana Market.
The Bangkok governor also expects to get the nod for a nine-month rent suspension at Chatuchak Weekend Market from the State Railway of Thailand, which leases the land.
